Our Palermo prickly pear and pine cone charm duo balagan glass bead hoop earrings showcase the natural beauties of Palermo in multicolour. This pair of plated brass long hoop earrings are decorated with a random mix of 4mm opaque plain and stripe glass rocaille beads along the length of the earring wires. One earring wire is decorated with a hand painted porcelain cactus charm and the other is adorned with a porcelain Sicilian pine cone charm in your choice from a variety of colour options shown above.

The Sicilian pine cone is a symbol of fertility, prosperity and abundance. It has always been a synonym of good wishes that embodies the symbolic meanings of life force, immortality and divinity.

The history of opuntia ficus indica, the botanical name for the prickly pear dates back to the fifteenth century, when it was imported into Sicily from Central South America. It was originally found on the slopes of Mount Etna and eventually became part of the classic Sicilian landscape.

Please Note: The porcelain Sicilian charms adorned on these earrings are hand crafted and hand painted. Therefore there may be darker and lighter areas of paint strokes on the charms. The porcelain charms are fragile and should be handled with extra care and attention. If they are knocked or dropped they may crack.
